Panana City Beach Real Estate | Re-opening of fishery closure areas in the Gulf

Here’s a recent update on Fishery openings – Thanks Kathy…

Today, NOAA is announcing that it will re-open 26,388 square miles of Gulf waters to commercial and recreational fishing in the southeastern portion of the closed area. This reopening, a third of the overall closed area, is being announced after consultation with FDA and under a re-opening protocol agreed to by NOAA, the FDA, and the Gulf states. In a recent article on wmbb, the Panama City Police Department announced they will be conducting enhanced traffic enforcement at various locations.

From the article:

“In an effort to increase awareness and public safety we will regularly inform the motoring public of these stepped up enforcement efforts.”

According to the article, the locations are as follows:

• Monday July 27th 2009 our focus will be Speed Enforcement at West Highway 98 and the Hathaway Bridge and the 2400 block of Highway 231.

Money Magazine Article - Home forecast: Where the growth is...and isn't

On May 12, 2006, the FAA issued the Final Environmental Impact Statement.  The FAA studied various alternative sites and selected the West Bay Site 8,400 foot runway alternative as its preferred alternative.  This site has been deemed the operationally preferred location as compared to the Existing Airport Site.  The FAA will subsequently issue a Record of Decision regarding the project.  This is expected in September 2006.
