Panama City Real Estate | How far is Destin?

I am often asked, and lately with increasing frequency “How far is Destin from Panama City Beach, Florida”.

Interestingly enough, I am asked this not necessarily because my clients want to purchase in Destin, Florida or are looking for things to do, but because they’ve been contacted by an agent in Destin to help them purchase in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Destin is at minimum 1 hour away from Panama City Beach, Florida and approximately 47 miles.  Destin is located in Okaloosa County where as Panama City Beach is located in Bay County.  Here’s a small map to help visualize the travel time.

When I get customers wanting to purchase  Destin real estate (which I often do), I refer them to agents I have worked with in the past who know the Destin real estate market better than I.

Since I am not in Destin, or a member of the Destin (Emerald Coast) Association of REALTORS®, it makes no sense for me to try and help the client when their needs can best be served by working with a qualified referred agent who is familiar with the Destin real estate market.

Make sense?

Of course it does…

I hope this bit of information helps those looking to purchase real estate in Panama City Beach, Florida as well as in Destin, Florida.

In my opinion, it’s always best to know your limitations and for me and my customers it’s best to work with an agent that knows the local market best to get the best deal and find the right property that meets or exceeds the customers expectations.

    AMEN!! I have buyers ask me the same thing. I always tell them I wouldn’t be doing them service if I tried to sell them in PCB…I don’t know it well enough. I’d be happy to send you any referrals.

    Times are tough and agents have to go outside of their comfort area. But leaving their geographic area doesn’t serve their clients and their best interests. Would YOU take clients to purchase in Destin?

    Hi Alex,

    I certainly agree that going outside ones comfort during these tough economic times may be prudent, as long as one educates themselves so their comfort zone is expanded.

    However in my opinion, going outside your geographic area is not the same and is detrimental to the customer.

    As I stated in the article, no I do not sell Destin real state – I refer it to more qualified local agents who can provide the service needed for my customer.
