According to the News Herald: “Panama City-Bay County International Airport Authority members on Thursday got an update on the design of the new airport’s terminal building.

During a board workshop, authority members viewed a presentation from Washington, D.C.-based HNTB Architecture Inc., which took over design work for several new airport facilities last year.”

The new Panama City International Airport is scheduled to open the 2nd quarter of 2010.

Another great day and big win for the Panama City area !

On Thursday, February 14th 2008 a U.S. District Court judge again denied the airport opponents’ attempts to halt construction at the new Panama City Bay County International Airport!

Airport Authority Chairman Joe Tannehill said construction was proceeding unrestricted, in accordance with our permits, and on schedule. Read the full article here.

The new Panama City International airport is being built on a 4,000-acre site in northwestern Bay County on land that was donated by The St. Joe Company.

The Florida Clean Water Network, based in Tallahassee and Citizens for the Bay, based in Panama City Beach are now stepping in to help waste more tax payer funds.

Once again, your tax dollars were spent needlessly on defending the FAA’s record of decision and approval of the new airport which occured in 2006.

Our future economic growth and prosperity was defended by Don Carr, outside counsel for the Airport Authority, and Ellen Durkee, an attorney for the Department of Justice on behalf of the FAA.

Your tax dollars were spent by The Natural Resources Defense Counsel, Defenders of Wildlife and Friends of PFN, a local pilot’s organization who hired Manhattan attorney Victor Hou to represent them.

According to an article in the News Herald, construction is due to begin January 2nd, 2008 on the new Panama City International Airport.

This is very good news as we approach the next and what we all hope is the final court hearing set for January 23rd, 2008 which will deliberate on the FAA’s record of decision.
